Introduction
Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Frequently asked questions
What other medications can be taken with Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup?
Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Can my child receive vaccinations while on treatment with Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should wait until they recover from their illness before receiving a vaccination. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
What laboratory tests may my child undergo while taking Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup for an extended period?
During prolonged therapy, your child's doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to ensure their condition remains stable.
Can I give my child a higher dose of Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup than recommended?
No, administering a higher dose of this medication can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult with your doctor for re-evaluation.
Should I stop giving Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup to my child once their symptoms improve?
No, do not discontinue treatment unless the full course of therapy is completed, even if symptoms appear to have improved. The infection may still be active, and continued treatment is essential for complete recovery.
Can Mezoclav CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea in my child?
Yes, this medication may cause diarrhea as it kills harmful bacteria while also affecting the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids if they experience diarrhea. If symptoms persist and signs of dehydration occur, consult with your doctor.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infections?
Mostly, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics unnecessarily can increase the risk of side effects. Consult with your child's doctor before administering antibiotics.
What does it mean if my child has yellow or green mucus coming out of their nose?
Having yellow or green mucus in the nose is a normal symptom during a common cold, which usually lasts for 7-10 days. Antibiotics are not necessary in this case.
When should I seek immediate medical attention for my child?
Call your child's doctor immediately if they experience serious allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These side effects are rare but require prompt medical attention.
