Ketotifen Amiloride Beclometasone Betamethasone
Metormin 1000mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication (biguanide). It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying the absorption of sugar (glucose) from the intestines, and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.
You have been prescribed Metormin 1000mg Tablet to control the blood sugar level and reduce the risk of diabetic complications such as heart attacks. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) may occur when taken along with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or on delaying/skipping a meal. Carry a sugar source with you for immediate relief. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Metormin 1000mg Tablet may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood. Prolonged use of Metormin 1000mg Tablet may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency which may lead to anemia, causing fatigue, pale skin, shortness of breath or headache. Notify your doctor if you experience any of these as you may require supplements. Your doctor will monitor your blood sugar levels and kidney functions regularly while you are taking this medication.
Metormin 1000mg Tablet helps manage high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It works by improving the body's response to insulin, which is a hormone that regulates blood sugar. This improves how well the body uses insulin and decreases glucose production from the liver. Metormin also decreases the absorption of glucose from the intestines after eating.
Metormin 1000mg Tablet can contribute to weight loss in people with diabetes who are overweight or obese. It may also lead to modest weight loss in those at risk for diabetes. However, it's crucial to consult a doctor before taking this medication solely for weight loss.
Metormin 1000mg Tablet is often the first-line treatment for high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It helps control blood sugar levels, promoting the body's response to insulin and decreasing glucose production by the liver and absorption from the intestines. Unlike some other oral antidiabetic medications, Metormin 1000mg Tablet rarely causes low blood sugar on its own because it prevents the pancreas from producing excessive insulin. This medication also helps with weight control by reducing fat storage.
Metormin 1000mg Tablet typically doesn't cause drowsiness, and patients generally tolerate it well. However, there is a rare possibility of sleep problems or insomnia while using this medication. If any significant side effects like sleepiness or lethargy are noticed, immediately contact your doctor.
Metormin 1000mg Tablet should be taken with food (meals). Do not crush or chew the tablets. Swallow them whole with a glass of water. If prescribed one tablet daily, preferably take it in the morning with breakfast. If prescribed two tablets daily, take one in the morning and another at dinner.
