Frequently asked questions
What is Methybin 1500 Injection?
Methybin 1500 Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body needs to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also helps release energy from food and utilize vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You can obtain vitamin B12 from sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, vegetarians or vegans may not have enough B12 because this nutrient is not naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, a deficiency of vitamin B12 is common in those with dietary restrictions.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (when red blood cells become larger than normal). It may also result in nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and mouth or tongue soreness.
Is Methybin 1500 Injection safe?
Methybin 1500 Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, in rare cases, side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and rash may occur. If a rash appears, discontinue using the medication immediately.
How should Methybin 1500 Injection be given?
Methybin 1500 Injection can be injected directly into a vein (intravenously) or into a muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is one ampoule (0.5 mg of Methybin 1500 Injection), administered three times weekly. After two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of Methybin 1500 Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Methybin 1500 Injection?
When injecting, avoid using the same injection site repeatedly. If intense pain occurs during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different location.
