Frequently asked questions
Can I give Merimox Tablet DT to my child repeatedly for a long time?
Long-term use of Merimox Tablet DT may cause fungal infections (oral thrush) in the mouth and severe gastrointestinal infections (superinfections). Do not alter the dosage or duration without consulting your doctor. Additionally, irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Merimox Tablet DT can lead to antibiotic resistance.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Merimox Tablet DT?
While rare, Merimox Tablet DT may cause serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergic reactions (e.g., rash), diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Seek immediate medical help in case of any such symptoms.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Merimox Tablet DT?
Merimox Tablet DT may interact with certain medications or substances. Before starting Merimox Tablet DT, inform your doctor about all the medications your child is currently taking. It's always best to consult your doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Merimox Tablet DT?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should wait to receive vaccinations until they recover from their illness. Once your child is feeling better, they can be vaccinated.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
While the mucus color changes during a common cold and thickens over time, this doesn't automatically mean your child needs antibiotics. Common colds usually last for 7-10 days. If symptoms persist beyond that duration, please consult your doctor for guidance.
Is Merimox Tablet DT safe for children suffering from infectious mononucleosis?
No, do not give this medicine to your child in this case as a high percentage of children with infectious mononucleosis develop a skin rash (erythematous rash) while taking Merimox Tablet DT.
Can Merimox Tablet DT cause allergic reaction?
While uncommon, Merimox Tablet DT can trigger allergic reactions and is potentially harmful to those with a known penicillin allergy. Seek immediate medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction like hives, difficulty breathing, swelling in the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Yes, Merimox Tablet DT can lead to diarrhea. It is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria but also affects beneficial bacteria in your gut and stomach, causing diarrhea. If diarrhea persists, talk to your doctor about it.
