Mensacyp Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine. The most common side effects are constipation, dryness in the mouth, and blurred vision. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are concerned about any of these. It can cause dizziness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness.

Mensacyp Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Mensacyp Syrup helps stimulate your appetite. It may cause dizziness and drowsiness. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine as it can cause excessive drowsiness and increase your risk of stomach problems. Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
