Frequently asked questions
What is Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection?
Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, which is an essential nutrient the body needs to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. Vitamin B12 also aids in energy release from food and utilizes vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is commonly found in meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, vegetarians and vegans may lack sufficient vitamin B12 because it is not naturally present in many plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, those following these diets are more susceptible to vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I have a vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (larger than normal red blood cells). It can also cause nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, memory problems, mouth sores, and tongue soreness.
Is Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection safe?
Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated. However, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash can occur. Discontinue use if a rash develops.
How should Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (into the vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is one ampoule (0.5 mg of Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection), given three times per week. After two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Melcobeon 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the same area repeatedly. If experiencing intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
