Frequently asked questions
What is Melbin 1500 Injection?
Melbin 1500 Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body needs for red blood cell production and a healthy nervous system. It's also important for releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found naturally in foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. People following a vegetarian or vegan diet may not obtain adequate vitamin B12 because it's not naturally present in plant-based sources such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Consequently, those who don't consume these types of foods might be deficient in Vitamin B12.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause symptoms like fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than normal). It can also lead to nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other signs of vitamin B12 deficiency include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and sores in the mouth or tongue.
Is Melbin 1500 Injection safe?
Melbin 1500 Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash can occur. If a rash appears during treatment, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Melbin 1500 Injection be given?
Melbin 1500 Injection can be administered by either intramuscular injection or directly into a vein (intravenously). The usual dose is one ampoule (0.5 mg of Melbin 1500 Injection) and it's given three times per week. After two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of Melbin 1500 Injection) is administered every one to three months as part of long-term maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Melbin 1500 Injection?
When injecting Melbin 1500, avoid repeating the injection at the same site each time. If experiencing intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, withdraw the needle and re-insert at a different location.
