Frequently asked questions
What is Megark 1500mcg Injection?
Megark 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required for red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in energy release from food and utilization of vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can I not get sufficient vitamin B12 from my diet?
Vitamin B12 is primarily found in animal products like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Vegetarians or vegans may experience deficiency as they don't consume these foods naturally. Therefore, individuals adhering to a vegetarian or vegan diet need careful attention to ensure adequate vitamin B12 intake.
What are the health consequences of vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue and weakness. It may also cause constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (larger than normal red blood cells). It can also result in nerve problems such as numbness or tingling sensations in hands and feet. Additionally, symptoms like balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and sores in the mouth or tongue may occur.
Is Megark 1500mcg Injection safe?
Megark 1500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. If a rash occurs, discontinue the medicine immediately.
How should Megark 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Megark 1500mcg Injection can be administered either intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Megark 1500mcg Injection), given three times a week. After two months, the dosage is adjusted to 1 ampoule (0.5 mg) every one to three months for maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Megark 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting Megark 1500mcg Injection at the same site each time. If you experience intense pain or blood flow back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different location.
