Salt Composition

Amoxycillin (80mg) + Clavulanic Acid (11.4mg)

Key Information

Short Description

Mega-CV Drops is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract.

Dosage Form

Oral Suspension

Introduction

Mega-CV Drops is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies.

Directions for Use

Never give Mega-CV Drops until and unless prescribed by the doctor. You must also never share your child’s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms.

Safety Information

Side Effects

No common side effects listed.

How it works

Mega-CV Drops is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Quick Tips

Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Mega-CV Drops. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Stop Mega-CV Drops immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.

Frequently asked questions

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Mega-CV Drops?

It's essential to inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Mega-CV Drops. This will help prevent potential interactions and ensure safe treatment.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Mega-CV Drops?

Antibiotics like Mega-CV Drops usually don't interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have been vaccinated. However, it's recommended to delay vaccination until your child has recovered from the illness.

Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Mega-CV Drops on a long-term basis?

Regular monitoring of kidney and liver function tests is necessary during prolonged therapy with Mega-CV Drops. This helps ensure your child's condition remains stable.

Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Mega-CV Drops to my child?

No, exceeding the recommended dosage can increase the risk of side effects. Consult your doctor if you notice increased severity of symptoms or if you're unsure about the dosage.

Can I stop giving Mega-CV Drops to my child when the symptoms are relieved?

It's crucial not to discontinue treatment with Mega-CV Drops unless the full course is complete, even if your child's symptoms improve. Stopping prematurely may allow the infection to persist.

Can the use of Mega-CV Drops cause diarrhea?

Yes, Mega-CV Drops can cause diarrhea as it affects both harmful and beneficial bacteria in the stomach. If your child experiences diarrhea, ensure they drink plenty of fluids and consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.

Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?

Typically, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Use antibiotics only after consulting with your child's doctor to avoid unnecessary side effects.

The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?

Yellow or green mucus doesn't necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics, as this is a normal part of the common cold. Symptoms often last 7-10 days.

Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?

Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These are rare but potentially life-threatening side effects.
