Meftal-MR Tablet should be taken with food to prevent upset stomach. Take it in the dose and duration as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or use it for longer duration than recommended. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, loss of appetite, sleepiness, weakness, and dryness in mouth. If any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get worse, let your doctor know. Before taking it, let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions or disorders, and all other medicines you are taking. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before starting treatment.

Meftal-MR Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Mefenamic acid and Tizanidine which relieve abdominal pain. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation. Tizanidine is a muscle relaxant which works by acting on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve the muscle stiffness or spasm.
You have been prescribed Meftal-MR Tablet to relieve abdominal cramps. It is best to take it when the first sign of pain occurs. Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea). If you get diarrhea while taking this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.
