Oral Suspension
Introduction
Medonof M Oral Suspension is a combination of three active ingredients. It is given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract. The antibiotic ingredients interfere with the genetic material of bacteria by impairing its DNA. This kills the infection-causing bacteria, preventing its growth and stopping the infection. On the other hand, Simethicone binds with the gas bubbles produced as a result of the other two ingredients or as a result of some other problem. By doing so, it aids in the removal of gases and provides relief in stomach pain and bloating.

How it works
Medonof M Oral Suspension is a combination of three active ingredients. While two of its ingredients, namely ofloxacin and metronidazole, are antibiotics, simethicone is a gas-absorbing agent that improves gastric tolerability of the combination.
Quick Tips
Diarrhea is a common side effect of this medicine. If it occurs, make sure your child drinks plenty of water. Your child may have an altered taste or furry tongue (coating of Medonof M Oral Suspension on tongue) after taking Medonof M Oral Suspension. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Medonof M Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Never use this medicine for the common cold and flu as they are caused by viruses and Medonof M Oral Suspension treats only bacterial infections. Frequently asked questions
What should I tell my doctor before giving Medonof M Oral Suspension to my child?
You must inform your doctor if your child has a history of heart disease, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sensitivity to sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, or genetic disorders involving blood vessels. This is because there may be an increased risk of complications when taking Medonof M Oral Suspension with these conditions.
Can Medonof M Oral Suspension be given along with cough and cold medicines?
No, do not give Medonof M Oral Suspension with cough and cold medicines. This is because the ingredients in both medications may interact, leading to a disulfiram reaction with alcohol-containing medicines like cough syrups.
What if I accidentally give an overdose of Medonof M Oral Suspension?
While an extra dose of Medonof M Oral Suspension is unlikely to be harmful, please contact your doctor immediately if you believe an overdose has occurred. Overdosing may lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and irregular heartbeat.
What should I do if my child doesn't show improvement after taking Medonof M Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration?
If your child does not improve after using Medonof M Oral Suspension for the prescribed time, you must consult with their doctor. The doctor may prescribe a stronger antibiotic or recommend other treatments.

Medonof M Oral Suspension may interact with other medicines. Please tell your doctor about all other medicines your child is taking before starting treatment.
How should I store Medonof M Oral Suspension?

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Medonof M Oral Suspension?
In general, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children. However, it's best to wait until your child recovers from the illness before they are given a vaccine. When your child feels better, the doctor can administer the vaccine.
My child has been passing red-brown urine since starting Medonof M Oral Suspension. Is this normal?
Medonof M Oral Suspension contains metronidazole, which causes red-brown urine as a side effect. The color will subside once the medicine is stopped after the treatment period.
