Frequently asked questions
What is Medimin 2500mcg Injection?
Medimin 2500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required by the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system, and it's also important for energy release from food and utilizing vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You can obtain Vitamin B12 from sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Individuals who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may experience difficulty obtaining Vitamin B12 because it is not naturally present in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, vitamin B12 deficiency is more common in those with specific dietary restrictions.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than normal). This may also cause nerve problems including numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other possible symptoms include difficulty with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Is Medimin 2500mcg Injection safe?
Medimin 2500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, in rare cases, side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash may occur. If a rash develops, discontinue taking this medicine immediately.
How should Medimin 2500mcg Injection be given?
Medimin 2500mcg Injection can be administered either intravenously or intramuscularly. The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Medimin 2500mcg Injection), administered three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Medimin 2500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Medimin 2500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting in the same location each time. If you experience intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-inject at a different site.
