Frequently asked questions
What is Mecorose 1500mcg Injection?
Mecorose 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, an essential nutrient required by the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. Vitamin B12 plays a role in energy production from food and utilizes vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 through my diet?
Vitamin B12 is not readily available in many fruits, vegetables and grains. Vegans and vegetarians who primarily rely on plant-based sources may be at risk for vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an increase in the size of red blood cells). It may also result in nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Other symptoms include impaired balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness in the mouth or tongue.
Is Mecorose 1500mcg Injection safe?
Mecorose 1500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects may occur such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash. If a rash develops, discontinue use immediately.
How should Mecorose 1500mcg Injection be given?
Mecorose 1500mcg Injection can be administered intramuscularly or intravenously (directly into the vein). The usual dosage is 0.5 mg of Mecorose 1500mcg Injection, given three times a week. After two months, 0.5 mg of Mecorose 1500mcg Injection is administered every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Mecorose 1500mcg Injection?
It's important not to repeat injections at the same site every time. If experiencing intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
