Frequently asked questions
What is Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection?
Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, which is an essential nutrient required by the body for red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in energy release from food and utilizing Vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found naturally in animal products such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Vegetarians and vegans may not get enough vitamin B12 as it's not present in plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. This can lead to deficiency in these groups.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an increase in red blood cell size). It can also lead to nerve problems such as numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and a sore mouth or tongue.
Is Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection safe?
Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some people may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. If a rash develops, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection be given?
Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection can be injected directly into a vein (intravenously) or into a muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection), given three times per week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Mecocle Plus 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site each time. If there's intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
