Frequently asked questions
What is Mecever-Forte Injection?
Mecever-Forte Injection is a solution containing vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient necessary for the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in energy release from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You can obtain vitamin B12 from foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians or vegans may experience difficulty getting adequate B12 as it is not naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, deficiency of vitamin B12 is more commonly observed in these groups.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to feelings of fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal increase in red blood cells), numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, impaired memory, and sores or irritation in the mouth or tongue.
Is Mecever-Forte Injection safe?
Mecever-Forte Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals might experience mild side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash. Stop using this medication immediately if you notice a rash.
How should Mecever-Forte Injection be administered?
Mecever-Forte Injection can be injected directly into a vein (intravenously) or into a muscle (intramuscularly). The typical dosage is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mecever-Forte Injection), and it's given 3 times per week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mecever-Forte Injection) is administered every one to three months for maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Mecever-Forte Injection?
It’s important to avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If you experience significant pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
