Frequently asked questions
What is Meb 2500 Injection?
Meb 2500 Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 plays an essential role in red blood cell production and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also helps with energy release and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 through my diet?
You can obtain vitamin B12 from animal-based foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, vegetarians or vegans may not get enough vitamin B12 as it is not naturally present in plants.
What happens if I have a vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It may also cause nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and sore mouth or tongue.
Is Meb 2500 Injection safe?
Meb 2500 Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. If you experience a rash, discontinue using this medication immediately.
How should Meb 2500 Injection be administered?
Meb 2500 Injection can be given intravenously or intramuscularly. The usual dosage is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Meb 2500 Injection) and is administered three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Meb 2500 Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Meb 2500 Injection?
Avoid injecting at the same site repeatedly. If there is intense pain or backflow during injection, remove the needle and re-inject at a different location.
