Frequently asked questions
What is ME 12 Forte Injection?
ME 12 Forte Injection is a solution of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required by the body to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food, utilizing vitamin B11 (folate), and supporting cell growth.
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found in sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians or vegans may have difficulty obtaining sufficient vitamin B12 because it's not naturally found in plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, deficiency in Vitamin B12 is more common in these groups.
What happens if I have a vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than normal). Other symptoms include nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Additionally, individuals may experience issues with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Is ME 12 Forte Injection safe?
ME 12 Forte Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash have been reported. If a rash occurs, discontinue taking the medication immediately.
How should ME 12 Forte Injection be given?
ME 12 Forte Injection can be injected either into a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of ME 12 Forte Injection), administered three times per week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of ME 12 Forte Injection) is given every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering ME 12 Forte Injection?
To minimize the risk of complications, it's advisable to avoid injecting at the same site each time. If severe pain occurs during injection or blood flow back into the syringe is observed, remove the needle and re-insert into a different area.
