Salt Composition

Amoxycillin (400mg/5ml) + Clavulanic Acid (57mg/5ml)

Key Information

Short Description

Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract.

Dosage Form

Dry Syrup

Introduction

Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.

Directions for Use

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.

Safety Information

Side Effects

Bitter taste in the mouth after intake Diarrhea Itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty (stop use and report to doctor immediately)

How it works

Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Quick Tips

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect Never give Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor Do not give Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses Check 'expiry' before giving Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup to your child

Frequently asked questions

Can other medications be taken simultaneously with Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup?

Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It's crucial to inform your child's doctor about all the medications they are currently taking before starting this syrup. Consult with your child's healthcare provider for proper guidance on medication interactions.

Can I get my child vaccinated while they are on treatment with Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup?

Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received one. However, children taking antibiotics should avoid receiving vaccinations until their condition is fully resolved. Once your child recovers from illness, they can receive the vaccine as instructed by their doctor.

What lab tests might be needed for my child on long-term Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup treatment?

Periodic kidney and liver function tests may be performed to monitor your child's condition over prolonged therapy using this medication. This is done to ensure the medication is being used appropriately.

Can I administer a higher dose of Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup than recommended?

Giving a higher dose than recommended can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences symptoms worsening, consult their doctor for a reassessment of the treatment plan.

When should I stop giving Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup to my child?

Do not discontinue this medication until the full course is completed, even if you feel better. Symptoms may improve before complete bacterial elimination. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

Can Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup cause diarrhea in children?

Yes, Masterclav Forte Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea. This is due to its antibiotic nature, which kills harmful bacteria and may impact the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to drink plenty of fluids. If symptoms persist or indicate dehydration (reduced urination, dark-colored and strong-smelling urine), consult with a doctor.

Do all viral common colds lead to bacterial infection?

Most often, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. In fact, giving antibiotics in a case of a viral infection can increase the risk of side effects. It's best to use antibiotics only after consulting with your child's doctor.

Is yellow-green mucus from my child's nose a sign of a bacterial infection?

Yellow or green mucus in the nose is usually a normal part of the common cold. In most cases, this change signifies the body's natural response to illness. While these symptoms may last for 7-10 days, it's important to keep an eye out for any changes that might suggest a more serious condition.

Are there any signs indicating my child needs immediate medical attention?

Seek immediate medical help if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). Though rare, these side effects are serious and require expert assessment.
