Frequently asked questions
What is Marycob 1500mcg Injection?
Marycob 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient necessary for the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in energy release from food, along with vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You may obtain vitamin B12 through sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians or vegans may not easily obtain this nutrient naturally from foods like fruits, vegetables, or grains. This is why vitamin B12 deficiency is more often seen in these groups.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an enlarged red blood cell condition). It may also cause nerve problems such as tingling in the hands or feet. Other symptoms of deficiency include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness in the mouth or tongue.
Is Marycob 1500mcg Injection safe?
Marycob 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash can occur. If a rash develops, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Marycob 1500mcg Injection be given?
Marycob 1500mcg Injection is administered either intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). A typical dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Marycob 1500mcg Injection), given three times per week. After two months, a dose of 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Marycob 1500mcg Injection) may be administered every one to three months for maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Marycob 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site each time. If you experience intense pain during injection or if blood returns into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
