Frequently asked questions
What is Lxmicob 1500 Injection?
Lxmicob 1500 Injection contains Vitamin B12, an essential nutrient crucial for the body's production of red blood cells and maintenance of a healthy nervous system. It also plays a vital role in releasing energy from food and utilizing vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can I not obtain sufficient Vitamin B12 through my diet?
Vitamin B12 is commonly found in animal-based products such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Vegetarians or vegans may face difficulty obtaining Vitamin B12 from their diet since it's naturally absent from plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, individuals following these dietary patterns may experience vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I have a Vitamin B12 deficiency?
Deficiency in Vitamin B12 can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, decreased appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal condition of red blood cells). It may also manifest as nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Additionally, potential symptoms include difficulty with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, sore mouth or tongue.
Is Lxmicob 1500 Injection safe?
Lxmicob 1500 Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash may occur. If a rash appears, discontinue the use of the medicine immediately.
How should Lxmicob 1500 Injection be administered?
Lxmicob 1500 Injection can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly. The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Lxmicob 1500 Injection), given three times a week. After two months, the dosage is adjusted to 1 ampoule (0.5 mg) once every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Lxmicob 1500 Injection?
Avoid injecting the medicine at the same site each time. If there is intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
