Oral Suspension
Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections targeting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic. It interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.

Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
If you suspect that your child has received an extra dose of Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension, it is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you notice any unusual symptoms such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, or palpitations, seek immediate medical attention from your child's doctor.
If your child does not show improvement after taking Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration, it may indicate that the medicine is not effective against the infection-causing bacteria. In this case, consult your child's doctor, who may prescribe an alternative antibiotic or recommend a different treatment approach. Not all medicines are suitable for oral administration, and some may require intravenous administration in a hospital setting.
Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension may interact with other medicines or substances. Before starting Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension, inform your child's doctor about any other medicines your child is taking. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before giving any other medicines to your child.
Antibiotics like Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension do not typically interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is recommended to wait until your child has fully recovered from their illness before receiving a vaccine.
Before administering Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension to your child, inform the doctor if your child has a pre-existing condition such as heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy, neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because Loxin 50mg Oral Suspension may exacerbate these conditions and lead to complications.
