Longifene Syrup is a prescription medicine used to treat various allergic conditions such as conjunctivitis and urticaria. It is also used for prevention and treatment of nausea or vomiting associated with motion sickness.
Syrup
Longifene Syrup should be taken immediately after food or preferably one hour before you travel. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. In case you have missed any doses then it is better to take the next dose as soon as you remember it. However you should never take a double dose. Sleepiness is the most common side effect of this medicine. Avoid driving or attention-seeking activity. If these bother you or appear serious let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. In some cases it may cause dryness of the mouth so it is advised to drink more water always carry sugar candy or maintain oral hygiene.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Longifene Syrup is to be taken with food.
Longifene Syrup is an antihistamine. It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (histamine). This helps treat various allergic conditions such as conjunctivitis and urticaria. This also stops the vomiting centre in the brain from receiving nerve messages that would otherwise cause motion sickness (nausea & light-headedness)
Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Longifene Syrup can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Longifene Syrup as it may cause excessive sleepiness or drowsiness. Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
