Oral Suspension
Introduction
Loamet Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
How it works
Loamet Oral Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
Quick Tips
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if Loamet Oral Suspension causes an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Loamet Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Loamet Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions
What if I accidentally give my child more than the recommended dose of Loamet Oral Suspension?
While extra doses of Loamet Oral Suspension won't cause side effects, it's crucial to be vigilant. If you believe your child received an excess dose, contact a doctor immediately. Overdose can increase the risk of negative reactions such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and irregular heartbeat. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of these symptoms.
If my child doesn't show improvement after taking Loamet Oral Suspension for the entire prescribed duration, what should I do?
Ineffectiveness with Loamet Oral Suspension might mean it isn't effectively targeting the bacteria causing the infection. Seek guidance from your child's doctor. They may prescribe a different antibiotic with a more specific action against those bacteria.
Can other medications be taken alongside Loamet Oral Suspension?
Loamet Oral Suspension could potentially interact with other medicines or substances. Consult your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking before starting Loamet Oral Suspension. Additionally, always get medical advice from a doctor before giving your child any medicine.
Can I vaccinate my child while on treatment with Loamet Oral Suspension?
Antibiotics generally don't interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions. However, children under antibiotics should avoid vaccination until they recover from the illness. Once your child feels better, they can receive the vaccine.
