Introduction
Lixflox MS Syrup is a combination of three active ingredients: ofloxacin, metronidazole, and simethicone. It is used to treat bacterial infections in children, including those of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract. This medicine is also given as an empirical antibiotic for infected diarrhea mixed with blood and serious infections like peritonitis.
Directions for Use
Lixflox MS Syrup is given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections. It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by the doctor and to complete the full course of treatment.
How it works
Lixflox MS Syrup is a combination of three active ingredients: ofloxacin, metronidazole, and simethicone. The antibiotic ingredients interfere with the genetic material of bacteria by impairing its DNA, killing the infection-causing bacteria and preventing its growth and stopping the infection. Simethicone binds with the gas bubbles produced as a result of the other two ingredients or as a result of some other problem, aiding in the removal of gases and providing relief in stomach pain and bloating.
Quick Tips
Diarrhea is a common side effect of this medicine. If it occurs, make sure your child drinks plenty of water. Your child may have an altered taste or furry tongue (coating of Lixflox MS Syrup on tongue) after taking Lixflox MS Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Lixflox MS Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Never use this medicine for the common cold and flu as they are caused by viruses and Lixflox MS Syrup treats only bacterial infections. Discontinue Lixflox MS Syrup and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.

Can Lixflox MS Syrup be combined with cough and cold medicines?
No, do not combine Lixflox MS Syrup with cough and cold medications. One of the ingredients in Lixflox MS Syrup can interact with alcohol-containing cough syrups, potentially triggering a disulfiram reaction causing nausea, vomiting, flushing, dizziness etc.
What should I do if my child accidentally takes an overdose of Lixflox MS Syrup?
