Livcholic 150 Tablet is generally considered a safe and effective medication. However, some common side effects may occur, such as diarrhea. If diarrhea does develop, your doctor might decrease the dose or discontinue treatment if it persists. Additionally, long-term use of this medicine could affect liver enzyme levels. Your doctor will regularly monitor your liver enzymes to manage potential risks. Despite these minor side effects, this medication is a good alternative to surgery in some patients with gallstones.
Livcholic 150 Tablet works by targeting the liver. It concentrates in bile secreted from the liver, which suppresses cholesterol production and secretion by the liver. This results in decreased cholesterol levels in bile. The medication also prevents intestinal absorption of bile salts and cholesterol. Consequently, reduced cholesterol saturation in the bile leads to gradual dissolving of cholesterol gallstones, decreasing their size and eventual dissolution. Moreover, it reduces elevated liver enzyme levels by increasing bile flow through the liver, thus protecting liver cells.
Yes, there is a possibility of experiencing weight gain while taking Livcholic 150 Tablet. However, it's not a widespread side effect. The likelihood of weight gain can occur in patients with liver diseases associated with chronic bile stasis in the small bile ducts of the liver. In such cases, bile flow from the liver to the intestines is hindered. Weight gain may vary across individuals depending on their specific disease condition. Consult your doctor if you notice any unexplained weight changes.
When taking Livcholic 150 Tablet, it's important to avoid certain medications. It's best not to take an antacid medication without consulting your doctor, as this can reduce the effectiveness of Livcholic 150 Tablet. Additionally, medicines like cholestyramine or colestipol should be avoided as they can negatively affect the medication's efficacy. Please consult your doctor about the appropriate time intervals between taking Livcholic 150 Tablet and these medications. Also, avoid taking oral contraceptives, estrogenic hormones, and blood cholesterol-lowering agents such as clofibrate, as these may increase the risk of developing gallstones and counteract the effects of Livcholic 150 Tablet.
