How it works
Lexof MZ Oral Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
Quick Tips
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if Lexof MZ Oral Suspension causes an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Lexof MZ Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Discontinue Lexof MZ Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions
What if I accidentally give my child too much of Lexof MZ Oral Suspension?
Although exceeding the prescribed dosage will not have any adverse effects, it's crucial to be vigilant. If you believe your child has received an excessive amount of Lexof MZ Oral Suspension, seek immediate medical advice from a healthcare professional. Overdosage can significantly increase the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heart rhythms.
What should I do if my child doesn't show improvement after taking Lexof MZ Oral Suspension for the recommended duration?
If your child's condition does not improve despite completing the prescribed course of Lexof MZ Oral Suspension, it might suggest that the medication is ineffective against the causative bacteria. In such instances, consult a healthcare professional who may prescribe an alternative antibiotic with more potent activity towards the specific bacteria responsible for the infection.
Can I administer other medicines simultaneously with Lexof MZ Oral Suspension?
Lexof MZ Oral Suspension might interact with certain medications or substances. Consult your child's doctor before starting any new medication alongside Lexof MZ Oral Suspension, and inform them about all other medications your child is currently taking.
Can I vaccinate my child while receiving Lexof MZ Oral Suspension?
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the components of vaccines or trigger adverse reactions in a vaccinated child. However, children on antibiotics should avoid getting vaccinated until they have fully recovered from their illness. Once your child feels better, they can receive a vaccination after consulting with their doctor.
What information must I disclose to the doctor before administering Lexof MZ Oral Suspension to my child?
It's important to inform the doctor if your child has existing health conditions such as heart disease, genetic disorders related to blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These factors may influence the medication's effectiveness and potentially lead to complications.
