Key Information
Short Description
Lexifer Syrup is a haematinic that contains Sodium feredetate, used to treat iron deficiency anaemia by increasing haemoglobin production in red blood cells.
Dosage Form
Syrup
Introduction
Lexifer Syrup is a haematinic that contains Sodium feredetate, a unionised form of iron that is less likely to cause stomach upsets or discolour teeth. It is used to treat iron deficiency anaemia, anemia during pregnancy, and severe blood loss during menstruation. The increased iron intake allows the body to increase its production of haemoglobin, which is the oxygen-transporting substance found in red blood cells.
Directions for Use
Use Lexifer Syrup under medical supervision.
How it works
Sodium feredetate breaks down in the gut and releases the iron, which is then absorbed by the body. The unionised form of iron is less likely to cause stomach upsets or discolour teeth.
