Key Information

Short Description

Levora Tablet is a medicine used for contraception (to prevent pregnancy) and in the treatment of irregular periods. It helps to prevent the release of the egg and its fertilization by the sperm.

Dosage Form

Tablet

Introduction

Levora Tablet can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It should be taken as per your doctor's advice. You will have to take the pill on day one of your menstrual cycle and continue taking it for a whole month. Once the pack gets over, start with a new one. If you experience vomiting within 4 hours of dose intake, take another tablet. In case you missed your dose and you are late by 12 hours in taking the missed dose, use a condom during intercourse for a period of 2 days.

Directions for Use

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Levora Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works

Levora Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive pill. It works by preventing the release of egg (ovulation) and affecting sperm movement in the womb to prevent its union with the egg. It also changes the lining of the womb and renders it unsuitable for pregnancy.

Quick Tips

Take your pill at the same time every day to help you remember to take it. You may experience menstrual irregularities such as spotting or bleeding between menstrual periods or missed periods. Consult your doctor if this persists. Do not use Levora Tablet if you are obese, over 35, smoke, on prolonged bed rest or have a history of blood clots. Stop taking this medicine and inform your doctor immediately if you notice unexplained swelling and pain in your limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain or changes in vision. These could be symptoms of a blood clot in a vein.

Frequently asked questions

What is Levora Tablet and what is it used for?

Levora Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive containing estrogen and progesterone. It is prescribed to prevent pregnancy.

What if I forget to take Levora Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Levora Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. Even if it means taking two tablets at once and then following your usual dosing schedule. However, if you miss two or more doses, you may not be fully protected against pregnancy. In this case, start taking the tablet as soon as you remember and use a non-hormonal method of contraception (such as condoms) for at least the next 7 days to prevent pregnancy. Frequent missed doses can cause unexpected vaginal bleeding or spotting (blood stain). Consult your doctor if this continues.

How and in what dose should I take Levora Tablet?

Take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. However, remember to take it at the same time each day to ensure consistent levels of medicine in your body.

Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Levora Tablet?

Levora Tablet should not be taken by patients with known allergies to its components or excipients. It is not advised for people with a history of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes mellitus, migraine headache, liver disease or tumors, uterine bleeding, breast cancer, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism (blood clot).

Can Levora Tablet be taken by a patient who smokes?

Levora Tablet should not be taken by a smoker. Smoking increases the risk of serious side effects such as death from heart attack, blood clots, or stroke. The risk is further increased in patients who are obese or over 35 years old and people who smoke heavily. Inform your doctor if you smoke before taking Levora Tablet.

What if I miss my regular menstrual periods while taking Levora Tablet?

Missing periods while taking Levora Tablet may indicate pregnancy. Some women experience light or absent periods while taking Levora Tablet, even without pregnancy. If you suspect you are pregnant or have missed two consecutive periods, contact your doctor. This could be due to missing doses at the same time each day.

Can Levora Tablet cause bleeding or spotting between regular menstrual periods?

Yes, Levora Tablet may lead to some unexpected bleeding or spotting, especially during the first three months. Do not stop taking Levora Tablet due to this. This type of bleeding decreases over time. You might experience unexpected bleeding if you don't take your pills regularly. Consult your doctor if the spotting continues for more than seven days or if there is a significant increase in bleeding.

What if I vomit after taking Levora Tablet?

If you experience vomiting within 3-4 hours of taking Levora Tablet, it may indicate a missed dose. Take another dose as soon as you feel better.
