Frequently asked questions
What is Levokof Syrup?
Levokof Syrup is a combination of Ambroxol, Levosalbutamol/Levalbuterol, and Guaifenesin. It's prescribed for cough with mucus. Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic, thinning and loosening the mucus to facilitate easier coughing. Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that relaxes airway muscles, widening them. Guaifenesin functions as an expectorant by reducing the stickiness of mucus, aiding its removal from airways.
Is Levokof Syrup safe to use?
Levokof Syrup is generally considered safe for most patients. However, some may experience common side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, allergic reactions, dizziness, headache, rash, urticaria, tremor, palpitations, muscle cramps, and increased heart rate. If you experience persistent issues while taking the medicine, consult your doctor.
Are there any specific contraindications for Levokof Syrup?
Levokof Syrup is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to any of its active or inactive ingredients. Combining Levosalbutamol and beta-blockers like propranolol should be avoided.
Can Levokof Syrup cause dizziness?
Yes, Levokof Syrup can induce dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you experience dizziness, rest for a while and resume only when feeling better. Avoid driving or operating machinery.
Can Levokof Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Levokof Syrup can trigger diarrhea. In case of diarrhea, drink plenty of fluids. If the diarrhea persists and you notice signs of dehydration like decreased urination with dark-colored, strong-smelling urine, consult your doctor immediately. Do not take any other medicine without your doctor's advice.
