Frequently asked questions
What is Leuro 2500mcg Injection?
Leuro 2500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, a nutrient essential for red blood cell production and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in energy release from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why might I not be getting sufficient vitamin B12 from my diet?
Vitamin B12 is commonly found in meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, individuals who follow a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle may not consume enough of this nutrient as it is not naturally present in fruits, vegetables, or grains. Therefore, vitamin B12 deficiency can occur in these populations.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may lead to fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It can also result in nerve problems such as numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include difficulty with balance, depression, confusion, memory impairment, dry mouth, or tongue soreness.
Is Leuro 2500mcg Injection safe?
Leuro 2500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash may occur. If a rash appears, discontinue use immediately.
How should Leuro 2500mcg Injection be administered?
Leuro 2500mcg Injection can be injected intramuscularly or intravenously. The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Leuro 2500mcg Injection) and is given three times a week. After two months, an additional injection with 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Leuro 2500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Leuro 2500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting at the same site repeatedly. If experiencing intense pain during injection, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location. If blood flows back into the syringe after injection, do not use the syringe and inject with a new one.
