You have been prescribed Letoval Tablet for the treatment of breast cancer. It can be taken with or without food. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how Letoval Tablet affects you. It may cause increased sweating and hot flushes. Try to keep cool by wearing light and airy clothes. Your doctor may monitor your cholesterol level and bone mineral density (BMD) regularly as Letoval Tablet can alter their levels.
Letoval Tablet is an aromatase inhibitor. It is generally prescribed to treat breast cancer in women who no longer have periods, either due to menopause or after surgery or chemotherapy.
Letoval Tablet is also known as an anti-estrogen drug. It is called so because it acts by reducing the production of estrogen in your body by blocking the enzyme aromatase, which is responsible for the production of estrogen. Estrogen stimulates the production of certain types of breast cancer in your body. These cancers are called "estrogen-dependent cancers". Reducing the production of estrogen may prevent cancer from growing.
The duration of Letoval Tablet treatment depends on individual circumstances and can vary depending on the stage of breast cancer, whether it has spread to other parts of the body, and whether it is used in conjunction with tamoxifen. It may be continued until tumor progression is observed or for a specified period, such as 5 years after tamoxifen if prescribed after surgery. Treatment can also be sequential: 2 years of Letoval Tablet followed by 3 years of tamoxifen.
Yes, you can take irbesartan and Letoval Tablet together. However, be careful and keep a regular check on your blood pressure since Letoval Tablet may increase it. Consult your doctor in case you have problems controlling your blood pressure.
Letoval Tablet may cause rare side effects, such as cataracts. If you experience blurred vision or eye irritation, consult your doctor immediately.
This could be a sign of hot flushes, which is a common side effect of Letoval Tablet. It happens due to decreased estrogen levels. The frequency of hot flushes reduces after your body adapts to the medication. In some people, these flushes and sweats may continue during treatment and subside a few months later. Consult your doctor if this is very bothersome.
Serious side effects are not common but may occur in some people. These include stroke, angina, heart attack, blood clots, cataracts, osteoporosis, and severe skin reactions.
Letoval Tablet may cause thinning or wasting of your bones (osteoporosis) due to the decrease in estrogen levels. Your doctor may consider measuring your bone density at the start, during treatment, and after treatment.
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Letoval Tablet is restricted for use in inducing ovulation in anovulatory infertility.
