Leedot RC Oral Suspension is usually given to children to treat acute diarrhea caused due to bacterial infections. It helps relieve the symptoms, severity, and duration of illness by killing the diarrhea-causing microorganism and reducing the loss of water and electrolytes.
Give Leedot RC Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix Leedot RC Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects.
Leedot RC Oral Suspension contains two medicines: Racecadotril and ofloxacin. Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor that reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine, while ofloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and causing infection.
Loose, watery diarrhea can lead to loss of fluids and essential salts from your child's body. Make sure to replenish this in the form of ORS (Oral rehydration solution) to combat dehydration. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Leedot RC Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Give Leedot RC Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix Leedot RC Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects. Do not give Leedot RC Oral Suspension if your child has persistent uncontrolled vomiting as this medicine will not be absorbed.
If an extra dose of Leedot RC Oral Suspension is accidentally given, it's essential to seek medical attention immediately. Overdose may lead to severe side effects such as seizures, tremors, headaches, weakness, unconsciousness, and irregular heartbeats. Rush to your child's doctor right away if you suspect an overdose.
It's not recommended to administer Leedot RC Oral Suspension to children with dairy product/milk intolerance, as it contains lactose. Consult your child's doctor for guidance on suitable alternatives.
Leedot RC Oral Suspension may interact with other medications or substances. Inform your child's doctor about any other medications they're taking before starting treatment with Leedot RC Oral Suspension. Always consult their doctor before giving any additional medicine to your child.
Typically, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it's generally advised that children taking antibiotics should wait until they recover from the illness before receiving a vaccination. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
The use of Leedot RC Oral Suspension in treating long-term (chronic) diarrhea has not been extensively studied. It's best to consult your child's doctor before giving this medication for any reason, including the treatment of chronic diarrhea.
