Lacto-Health Oral Solution is used in the treatment of constipation and hepatic encephalopathy. It should preferably be taken at bedtime as it requires 6 to 8 hours to show effect. It is usually taken once a day as needed for up to 2 weeks. Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Take it at least 2 hours after taking other medicines as it may interfere with the absorption of other medicines. Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach disorders such as appendicitis or a blockage in your bowel. Some healthy tips to prevent constipation: Eat more fiber in your diet (20-35g daily), drink 8-10 glasses of water per day, exercise regularly at least 3 times per week, and do not hold in stool as that can worsen bowel issues.
It typically takes 2-3 days to see improvement with the treatment. If your constipation persists after 3 days, consult with your healthcare professional.
Lacto-Health Oral Solution is prescribed for constipation, characterized by infrequent bowel movements and hard or dry stools. It also treats hepatic encephalopathy, a serious liver condition that can lead to confusion, tremors, and decreased consciousness.
Yes, Lacto-Health Oral Solution is a laxative. Its mechanism of action involves softening stool by drawing water into the colon.
Common side effects include diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Diarrhea and abdominal pain may occur due to a high dose. If experienced, dosage reduction is recommended. Flatulence can occur in the initial days of treatment and often resolves over time. Electrolyte imbalance is an uncommon side effect.
Use Lacto-Health Oral Solution as prescribed by your healthcare professional, for as long as recommended or until the constipation subsides. For hepatic encephalopathy treatment duration may be longer, sometimes even lasting several months.
Lacto-Health Oral Solution should not be given to individuals who are allergic to it or intolerant of lactose. It is also contraindicated in patients with galactosemia, a rare genetic disorder that prevents the body's ability to process galactose.
Typically, a single laxative is sufficient for constipation. If additional laxation is necessary, your healthcare professional may advise you to use another laxative alongside Lacto-Health Oral Solution. Combining two laxatives might increase the risk of side effects.
Exceeding the prescribed dosage of Lacto-Health Oral Solution can lead to abdominal pain, electrolyte imbalance, and diarrhea. These symptoms may persist for several days.
Dosage should be accurately measured using the provided measuring cup or spoon. It is recommended to consume the medication with water or fruit juice if needed, and to ensure sufficient hydration for optimal results. It's advised to swallow the solution promptly after placing it in your mouth to prevent tooth decay.
