Introduction
Kymentin Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Kymentin Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Kymentin Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have just received one. However, before administering any medication to a child, consult their doctor as they may recommend postponing the vaccine until your child recovers from the illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Kymentin Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
During prolonged therapy, your doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to assess your child's condition.

No, administering a higher dose of this medication can increase the risk of adverse effects. If your child experiences increased symptom severity, consult their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Kymentin Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue this medication unless you complete the full course of treatment. Even if you feel better before the infection is completely cured, continuing the medicine may be beneficial for some time. Therefore, it is important to follow the prescribed dosage and duration of treatment.
Can the use of Kymentin Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Kymentin Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea due to its antibiotic nature. The medicine may also affect the beneficial bacteria in your child’s stomach and lead to diarrhea. Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics. During a common cold, the mucus may thicken and change from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms usually last for 7 to 10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
If your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), it is crucial to contact their doctor immediately. While these side effects are rare, they require expert medical attention.
