Frequently asked questions
Can Kizter Tablet be safe for use in patients with liver cirrhosis?
Oral intake of Kizter Tablet is not recommended in patients with chronic or active liver disease. It is crucial to assess liver function through a liver function test before starting treatment. This test determines whether the liver is functioning effectively or not. Kizter Tablet gets metabolized by liver enzymes, and any dysfunction in liver function can lead to increased levels of the medication in the blood, resulting in potential side effects and toxicity. Therefore, it is important to inform your doctor if you have any history of liver disease or cirrhosis. Additionally, informing your doctor about any other medications you are currently taking is vital as they may interact with Kizter Tablet due to liver enzyme interactions, potentially leading to toxicity. Your doctor may suggest periodic monitoring (after 4-6 weeks of treatment) of liver function test and make dose adjustments accordingly if necessary.
Does Kizter Tablet cause any skin reactions?
Yes, some individuals might experience skin reactions while taking Kizter Tablet. There have been rare reports of severe allergic skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and other serious skin reactions with Kizter Tablet. Therefore, always consult your doctor before starting this medication. In case you notice any type of skin reaction or rash, discontinue the medication immediately and contact your doctor.
Is Kizter Tablet effective?
Kizter Tablet is generally effective as an antifungal medication when taken correctly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it prematurely even if you experience improvement in your condition. If you stop the medication early, the fungus may continue to grow and the infection could return or worsen.
How long do I need to take Kizter Tablet?
The typical duration of treatment for Tinea pedis (fungal infection in the foot), Tinea corporis (ringworm), and Tinea cruris (fungal infection in the groin) is around 2 to 4 weeks. In some cases, treatment might extend up to 6 weeks. For fungal infections affecting nails, the duration of therapy usually ranges from 6 to 12 weeks. In some cases of nail fungal infections, it may take as long as 6 weeks for toenail fungus, and 12 weeks for fingernail fungus.
Can I drink tea or coffee while taking Kizter Tablet?
Consuming caffeinated beverages like tea and coffee should be done with caution when on Kizter Tablet. Kizter Tablet reduces caffeine metabolism rate by 19%, which can increase the concentration of caffeine in your blood. This may lead to side effects such as increased jitteriness, headaches, faster heartbeat, and restlessness.
