Key Information

Short Description

Kiviza 1gm Injection is used in combination with other antibiotics for the treatment of various types of serious bacterial infections such as pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, and others.

Dosage Form

Injection

Introduction

Kiviza 1gm Injection is a type of antibiotic belonging to a class known as beta-lactamase inhibitors. This medicine helps to make the bacteria more sensitive to antibiotic activity. It is given by drip (intravenous infusion) or by direct injection into a vein under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening. The total duration of treatment and precise dosage will be decided by your doctor depending on the type of infection that you have and how well you respond to the medication.

Directions for Use

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self-administer.

How it works

Kiviza 1gm Injection is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It works by blocking an enzyme called beta lactamase produced by bacteria to inactivate antibiotics. Kiviza 1gm Injection is frequently combined with beta-lactam antibiotics such as ampicillin, cefoperazone, meropenem. As a single medicine, it treats infection caused by a type of bacterium called Acinetobacter baumanii. This activity is mediated by its interaction with certain proteins.

Quick Tips

Kiviza 1gm Injection is used in treatment of severe bacterial infections Used in combination with certain antibiotics Used alone in the treatment of serious infections caused by pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii including those resistant to other antibiotics Preferentially given as an injection directly into a vein over a period of 15-60 minutes Associated with few adverse effects mainly pain at the injection site and diarrhea when used alone
