Kidpred Syrup is a steroid medicine. It decreases the formation of chemical substances like prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and interleukins which are considered responsible for inflammation and allergy. It also suppresses the immune system and stops the immune mechanisms from causing any self-damage to the body.
Prefer giving Kidpred Syrup with food as an empty stomach can trigger acidity and gastric reflux. Do not give this medicine more often or for longer than advised by your doctor. Your child may be more likely to get new infections. Also, in some cases, old infections may become active. Tell your child’s doctor if you see any signs of an infection such as fever, cough, vomiting, or diarrhea. Delay vaccination while your child is taking Kidpred Syrup as it may not work well. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given after consulting a doctor. Do not stop the medicine abruptly. Seek the doctor’s guidance to taper the dose gradually as sudden withdrawal may result in a steroid withdrawal syndrome. Always check with your child's doctor before giving any other medications, including those that don't need a prescription (over-the-counter medicines).
