Kamid 1% Dusting Powder is an antifungal medication. It is prescribed to treat fungal skin infections, such as ringworm (a skin infection causing a scaly rash), athlete's foot (a fungal infection of the feet and between the toes), nappy rash caused by fungi, and sweat rash caused by fungi. It can also be used for vulval irritation, often associated with thrush, and genital irritation, including that on the penis.
Kamid 1% Dusting Powder is effective against Trichophyton species, which cause ringworm, athlete's foot, and jock itch. It also effectively targets Candida, a yeast that commonly causes vaginal thrush.
Most of the symptoms associated with fungal skin infections should start to improve within a few days of starting treatment. However, some redness and scaling may take longer to fade away. It's crucial not to stop applying this medication before your doctor's recommended duration, even if you feel better.
Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying Kamid 1% Dusting Powder. If you're using it for a foot infection, ensure the area is clean and dry before applying the cream, especially between the toes. Apply the medication thinly and evenly, gently rubbing it into the affected areas 2-3 times daily.
The duration of treatment depends on the type of infection. For fungal skin infections like tinea, the treatment is typically continued for one month, while for Candida, it requires at least 15 days of treatment.
Kamid 1% Dusting Powder should only be used by a child after being prescribed and monitored by their doctor. The correct dosage must be used for the duration recommended.
Keep the affected skin area clean and dry to avoid further irritation. You may experience itching, so it's important not to scratch as this can worsen the condition. Avoid sharing towels, bath mats, or other personal items with others to prevent spreading any potential infection.
Kamid 1% Dusting Powder may reduce the effectiveness of some types of contraceptives, such as condoms and diaphragms. If you're using this medication on your vulva or penis, it is important to use an alternative contraceptive method for at least five days after starting treatment.
