Introduction
Itcan 100mg Capsule should be taken in the dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. It should be swallowed whole and can be taken with food. Frequently asked questions
What is Itcan 100mg Capsule used for?
Itcan 100mg Capsule is used to treat fungal infections caused by Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., and Epidermophyton floccosum. These infections can be ringworm, infection of the feet, or infection in the groin and buttocks. The medicine also treats persistent nail and toenail infections, persistent yeast infections (candidiasis) of the vagina or mouth/throat in patients with lowered disease resistance. It is also used for treatment of cryptococcal infection and fungal infections caused by Histoplasma, Aspergillus, and Blastomyces.
How long do I need to take Itcan 100mg Capsule?
The dosage duration depends on the type and site of the infection and your response to treatment. For example, if you are treating athlete's foot (fungal infection of the skin on the feet), the dosage might be taken for 30 days, while in a case of candidal infection of the vagina, the duration may span from 1 day to 3 days depending on the doctor's prescribed dosage.
I am taking Itcan 100mg Capsule for nail infection, but there doesn’t seem to be any improvement. Can I stop taking it?
No, you should not stop taking Itcan 100mg Capsule without completing the entire course. Doing so might not completely cure the fungal infection. Nail lesions often take around 6-9 months to disappear because after the medicine eliminates the fungus, new nail growth takes several months. It's normal if there isn’t an immediate improvement during treatment.
Why has my doctor asked me to get blood tests done?
Your doctor may be conducting blood tests to monitor the functioning of your liver. Itcan 100mg Capsule can potentially cause serious liver damage, so if you experience loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dark urine, or abdominal pain while taking it, inform your doctor immediately.
Can I take antacid and Itcan 100mg Capsule together?
Itcan 100mg Capsule can be utilized by the body if there is sufficient acid in the stomach. Medicines for stomach ulcers, heartburn, or indigestion neutralize the acid produced by the stomach. Therefore, take antacids or any such medicine about 2 hours after taking Itcan 100mg Capsule. If you are taking antacids (medicines that stop the production of stomach acid), take Itcan 100mg Capsule capsules with a drink of cola.
What is drug resistance? Is it possible to develop resistance to Itcan 100mg Capsule?
Sometimes, the fungi in your body can change and become resistant to medication. This is called drug resistance. Resistance to Itcan 100mg Capsule has been reported with some candida species (krusei, glabrata, and tropicalis). Itcan 100mg Capsule should not be used for infections caused by these species. Taking the entire course of Itcan 100mg Capsule is important to avoid drug resistance.
I have been on alprazolam for quite some time. Is it okay if I start Itcan 100mg Capsule now?
Yes, you can take both Alprazolam and Itcan 100mg Capsule together. However, be aware of the side effects of Alprazolam such as lightheadedness or drowsiness. If any adverse effects appear after taking Itcan 100mg Capsule, talk to your doctor who will adjust your dose of Alprazolam.
My doctor prescribed Itcan 100mg Capsule to me but not to my friend who had a similar fungal infection because she was on dofetilide. Why is it so?
Your doctor did not prescribe Itcan 100mg Capsule to your friend because Itcan 100mg Capsule interferes with the function of dofetilide. This interference can cause disrupted electrical activity in the heart, which could be harmful to the patient.
