Frequently asked questions
What is Intebion 500mcg Injection?
Intebion 500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 plays an essential role in the body's production of red blood cells and maintains a healthy nervous system. It also contributes to energy release and utilizes vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is typically obtained from animal-based sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Individuals following vegetarian or vegan diets may not obtain adequate vitamin B12 as it's not naturally present in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, vitamin B12 deficiency is frequently observed in these dietary groups.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to various symptoms like persistent fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal increase in the size of red blood cells). It may also cause nerve problems including numbness and tingling sensations in the hands and feet. Other potential signs of vitamin B12 deficiency include issues with balance, depression, confusion, memory impairment, a sore mouth or tongue, and other neurological symptoms.
Is Intebion 500mcg Injection safe?
Intebion 500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, in rare instances, individuals might experience side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or a rash. If you encounter any rash, it's crucial to discontinue use of this medication.
How should Intebion 500mcg Injection be given?
Intebion 500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule containing 0.5 mg of Intebion 500mcg Injection, and it's given three times per week. After two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of Intebion 500mcg Injection) is administered every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Intebion 500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If you experience intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
