Ideben Tablet is a prescription medicine used to treat Friedreich's ataxia and vision impairment in patients with Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy, an eye disorder that can lead to loss of eyesight.

Ideben Tablet is taken with food, preferably at the same time each day. Take this medicine as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor. Some common side effects of using this medication are inflammation of the throat and nasal passages, cough, and back pain. This medicine may cause diarrhea, so drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated while taking this medicine. It may make your urine reddish-brown in color but it is harmless. Before taking this medicine, please inform your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney diseases. Moreover, your doctor may regularly monitor your eyesight, blood counts, and liver function while you are on treatment with this medicine.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ideben Tablet is to be taken with food.

Idebenone belongs to the class of drugs called as antioxidants (a molecule that prevents oxidation of another molecule). It acts by protecting wide variety of cells from oxidative damage thereby increasing production of energy by cells.

Your doctor may regularly monitor your eyesight, blood counts and liver function while you are on treatment with this medicine. Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease or if you notice flu or cold symptoms.
