Iatro 100mg Tablet is used to treat fungal infections caused by Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., and Epidermophyton floccosum. This medication is used for ringworm, foot infection, groin/buttock infection, persistent nail and toenail fungus, and yeast infections of the vagina, mouth, or throat in patients with low immune response. For how long do I need to take Iatro 100mg Tablet?
The duration of treatment depends on the type and site of infection, as well as your response to the medication. For example, treating athlete’s foot (fungal infection of the skin on the feet and between the toes) may require 30 days of treatment. On the other hand, treating candidal infections of the vagina may need a duration from 1 day to 3 days depending on the dosage prescribed by your doctor.
I am taking Iatro 100mg Tablet for nail infection but there does not seem to be any improvement. Can I stop taking it?
No, you should not stop taking Iatro 100mg Tablet without completing the entire course because doing so may not completely cure the fungal infection. It usually takes about 6-9 months for nail lesions to disappear as new nails grow and take several months. It’s important to continue taking your medication even if you do not see any improvement during treatment.
Why has my doctor asked me to get blood tests done?
Your doctor may have requested blood tests to monitor your liver's functioning. Iatro 100mg Tablet can cause serious liver damage. If you experience symptoms like loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dark urine, or abdominal pain while taking Iatro 100mg Tablet, inform your doctor immediately.
Can I take antacid and Iatro 100mg Tablet together?
Iatro 100mg Tablet can be taken in combination with antacids. It's best to take them about 2 hours after each other, or as advised by your doctor. If you are taking antacids (medicines that stop the production of stomach acid), take Iatro 100mg Tablet capsules with a drink of cola.
What is drug resistance? Is it possible to develop resistance to Iatro 100mg Tablet?
Drug resistance sometimes happens when the fungi mutate in your body, rendering the medication ineffective. Iatro 100mg Tablet resistance has been reported with some candida species (krusei, glabrata, and tropicalis). It is important to follow prescribed dosages for Iatro 100mg Tablet to avoid developing drug resistance.
My doctor prescribed Iatro 100mg Tablet to me but not to my friend who had a similar fungal infection because she was on dofetilide. Why is it so?
Your doctor did not prescribe Iatro 100mg Tablet to your friend because it can interfere with the working of dofetilide, potentially causing disturbances in heart rhythm, which could be harmful.
