Hizol Suspension is a medication used to treat parasitic worm infections in children.
Suspension
Hizol Suspension is effective against a range of parasitic worm infections in children. It restrains the worms from absorbing the body's essential nutrients, causing them to lose their energy and leading to their eventual death. The dead worms are then removed from your child's body through the stool.
Give this medicine to your child with a fat-containing food such as milk as it enables better absorption in the body. Follow the prescribed dosage strictly. In case your child is prescribed to take this medicine for a few days, make sure to complete the dosage as stopping abruptly may lead to re-infection.
Worms enter inside your child's body when your child eats or drinks something that's infected with a worm or its eggs. Once inside the body, these worms get attached to the inner walls of the intestines and can even enter other body organs. Hizol Suspension works by keeping the worms from absorbing sugar (glucose), thereby depleting their energy level. This causes the worms to die, thereby treating your child's infection.

Your doctor may recommend treatment for all family members on the same day, whether or not they have any symptoms of infection. Some self-care measures: do not give raw or undercooked food to your child, encourage your child to wash their hands with soap and water every time they use the toilet, trim your child's nails frequently, maintain a neat space and hygiene around your child, and inform the doctor in case your child exhibits signs of allergic reaction or infection.
If your child experiences an itchy bottom (rectal area), difficulty sitting, fatigue, and restless sleep due to anal itching or persistent stomach pain with loss of appetite or frequent indigestion, it might indicate worm infestation. Additionally, pica may be present, where your child eats inedible substances such as mud. Consult a doctor immediately if you notice any of these symptoms.
Children are commonly affected by intense infections. Transmission occurs through contaminated soil and human feces that contain worm eggs. This can happen when drinking water, eating unclean vegetables and fruits without washing or peeling, or playing in contaminated soil. After outdoor activities, remind your child to clean up using soap and water.
Deworming is the process of eliminating worms from the body. Hizol Suspension is a commonly used treatment for deworming children.
You can provide pain-relieving and fever-reducing medications unless your doctor advises against it. However, some medications should not be taken with Hizol Suspension to avoid potential side effects. Consult a doctor before administering any additional medications.
Hizol Suspension can be given at any time of day as long as it is accompanied by a fat-containing food like milk.
Children with known allergies to albendazole or similar medications like mebendazole or thiabendazole in the past should not receive Hizol Suspension. Signs of an allergic reaction include an itchy skin rash, shortness of breath, and swelling of the face or tongue. Inform your doctor about any medical conditions and other medications your child is taking to ensure safe administration.
