Introduction
Hilestrol is a standardized polyphenolic fraction isolated from bergamot, containing a unique profile of flavonoids and glycosides. It has been shown to enhance existing outcomes in very high-risk ASCVD patients, reduce statin dose, and provide additional glucose-lowering effects. It is also safe and well-tolerated in older patients and has been shown to increase patient adherence in familial hypercholesterolemia.
Directions for Use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush, or break it. Take it with food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How it works
Hilestrol blocks the substrate site of HMG-CoA reductase and spares the catalytic site, resulting in a mean increase of 40% for HDL-C. It also indirectly prevents dietary cholesterol absorption by inhibiting pCEH, which supports a 30% decrease in tChol and up to 36% decrease in LDL-C and 41% decrease in TG.
