Hicin Syrup is a widely prescribed medicine that helps to ease pain and bring down high body temperature (fever). In children, it treats conditions like headache, toothache, body ache, fever, and common cold.
Give Hicin Syrup to your child with food or milk to prevent an upset stomach. Your child should not take more than four doses of this medicine in 24 hours, so wait up to 6 hours between doses. Never give any other medicine formulation containing paracetamol along with this medicine as that may lead to serious side effects. Inform the doctor if your child has liver disease as the dose may need to be adjusted. If Hicin Syrup does not seem to be helping your child, contact your doctor for advice. Do not give extra doses.
Hicin Syrup possesses analgesic (pain-reliever) and antipyretic (lowers body temperature) properties. It provides relief by blocking certain chemical messengers and pathways in the brain that send signals about pain and fever.

Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage and frequency for administration. This will depend on the medication's strength and your child's age. Consult the label or leaflet enclosed with the packaging for specific directions before use. The commonly recommended dose is 10-15 mg/kg administered every 4 to 6 hours. If you are unsure about dosage, consult your child's doctor.
Hicin Syrup typically begins working within 30 to 60 minutes of administration and reaches peak effect in 3 to 4 hours. You may notice your child feeling better after a few doses. However, if pain or fever persists beyond this timeframe, consult your child's doctor immediately.
If your child vomits within 30 minutes of receiving Hicin Syrup, administer another dose. If more than 30 minutes have passed since administration and your child vomits, no further action is required; wait until the next scheduled dose. If you are unsure, consult your doctor.
Hicin Syrup can be administered if your child's temperature is 38.3°C (101°F) or higher, but always consult with your child's doctor before administering it.
If the fever doesn't come down after initial doses, there may be an underlying infection (virus or bacteria). It is advisable to consult your doctor for further treatment.
The safe dose of Hicin Syrup is limited to four doses within 24 hours. There should be a minimum of 4-6 hour gap between each dose. Avoid taking it for more than 3 days without consulting your doctor. Exceeding the recommended dose can lead to liver and kidney toxicity. If you believe your child may have taken too much of this medication, contact your doctor immediately; even if they seem well.
Unless instructed by your doctor, your child should maintain a normal, balanced diet. Adequate nutrition is vital for preventing medicinal toxicity.
It's advisable to use Hicin Syrup with caution if your child has malnutrition, G6PD deficiency, liver disease, or any known medication allergies. It is crucial to share your child's complete medical history with the doctor for informed decision-making regarding its safety.
Store this medicine at room temperature in a dry, childproof location away from direct sunlight.
It's generally not recommended to combine Hicin Syrup with vaccines that can induce fever. Studies suggest administering these two together may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.
