Introduction
Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Additionally, it is recommended to consult with your child's healthcare provider before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension?
Antibiotics are generally not associated with negative interactions or adverse effects from vaccines. However, children on antibiotics should be held off from vaccination until recovery from the illness has been achieved. Once your child shows signs of recovery, it is safe to administer the vaccine. Please refer to your doctor for specific instructions.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension on a long-term basis?
The doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests during extended therapy with Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension to assess your child's overall condition. These tests are usually conducted as part of routine monitoring.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension to my child?
Providing a dose beyond the prescribed amount of Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, please consult with their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue this medicine unless the full course of treatment is complete. It is crucial to finish the prescribed dosage even if you feel better because the medication may still be providing beneficial effects during the course's duration.
Can the use of Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension cause diarrhea?
Yes, Hardclav DDS Oral Suspension can cause diarrhea. Encourage your child to consume plenty of fluids if they experience diarrhea. If symptoms persist or you observe signs of dehydration such as reduced urination frequency with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine, consult your doctor before administering any other medication.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Usually, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Antibiotics should only be used after consulting with a healthcare provider and following your doctor's instructions as needed. In the case of a viral infection, it is advisable to avoid antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose typically does not require antibiotic treatment for a viral infection. During a common cold, mucus may thicken and change color from clear to yellow or green as it changes naturally over time. Symptoms usually subside within 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Call your child's doctor immediately if they experience severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea, and liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While rare, these side effects require expert medical intervention.
