Frequently asked questions
What is H Cobal 1500mcg Injection?
H Cobal 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, an essential nutrient crucial for red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also aids in releasing energy from food and utilizing vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why might I have difficulty obtaining sufficient vitamin B12 through my diet?
Vitamin B12 can be obtained from various sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, vegetarians or vegans may experience a deficiency since they do not consume naturally occurring vitamin B12 in foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. As a result, individuals following these diets are at an increased risk for vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I develop vitamin B12 deficiency?
A lack of vitamin B12 may lead to symptoms like persistent tiredness and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal increase in red blood cells). This can also trigger nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other signs might include balance difficulties, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and sore mouth or tongue.
Is H Cobal 1500mcg Injection safe?
H Cobal 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia (loss of appetite), and rash may occur. In case of a rash, discontinue using the injection immediately.
How should H Cobal 1500mcg Injection be administered?
H Cobal 1500mcg Injection can be injected directly into a vein (intravenously) or into a muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of H Cobal 1500mcg Injection) and is given three times per week. After two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of H Cobal 1500mcg Injection) is administered once every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions should I take while administering H Cobal 1500mcg Injection?
It's crucial to avoid injecting the medication in the same area each time. If there's intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, withdraw the needle and re-insert at a different site.
