Dosage Form
Oral Suspension
Introduction
Granflox MS Oral Suspension is a combination of three active ingredients. It is given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract. The antibiotic ingredients interfere with the genetic material of bacteria by impairing its DNA. This kills the infection-causing bacteria, preventing its growth and stopping the infection. On the other hand, Simethicone binds with the gas bubbles produced as a result of the other two ingredients or as a result of some other problem. By doing so, it aids in the removal of gases and provides relief in stomach pain and bloating.

How it works
Granflox MS Oral Suspension is a combination of three active ingredients. While two of its ingredients, namely ofloxacin and metronidazole are antibiotics, simethicone is a gas-absorbing agent that improves gastric tolerability of the combination.

What information should be relayed to the physician before administering Granflox MS Oral Suspension to a child?
Notify the doctor if your child has a history of heart disease, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, or genetic disorders involving blood vessels. This is crucial because Granflox MS Oral Suspension may worsen these conditions and lead to complications.
Can Granflox MS Oral Suspension be given in combination with cough and cold medications?
No, do not administer Granflox MS Oral Suspension alongside cough and cold medicines. A component of Granflox MS Oral Suspension may interact with alcohol-containing medications such as cough syrups, leading to disulfiram reaction which can result in nausea, vomiting, flushing, dizziness, etc.
What should be done if a child accidentally ingests an overdose of Granflox MS Oral Suspension?
Excessive dosage is unlikely to cause severe harm. In case you suspect an overdose, consult with a physician immediately. Overdose may lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and irregular heartbeats. Seek immediate medical attention if you observe any of these symptoms.
What should be done if Granflox MS Oral Suspension does not show improvement after the prescribed duration?
If there's no improvement despite taking Granflox MS Oral Suspension for the recommended period, it might mean that the medication is unable to kill the infection-causing bacteria. In some cases, intravenous administration of the antibiotic may be necessary in a hospital setting.
Can other medicines be administered concurrently with Granflox MS Oral Suspension?

My child has been passing red-brown urine since starting Granflox MS Oral Suspension. Is this normal?
