Key Information

Short Description

Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract.

Dosage Form

Oral Suspension

Introduction

Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.

Directions for Use

Never give Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup to your child until and unless prescribed by the doctor. You must also never share your child’s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms.

Safety Information

Side Effects

No common side effects listed.

How it works

Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Quick Tips

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses.

Frequently asked questions

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup?

Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting treatment. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before administering any new medicine.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup?

Antibiotics typically do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it's recommended to delay vaccination until your child has recovered from the illness.

Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?

During prolonged therapy, the doctor might conduct regular kidney and liver function tests to monitor your child's condition.

Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup to my child?

No, exceeding the recommended dosage can increase the risk of adverse effects. If your child experiences increased symptoms severity, consult with your doctor for re-evaluation.

Can I stop giving Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?

No, do not discontinue treatment unless the full course of therapy is complete, even if symptoms improve. The infection may be fully cured despite improved symptoms.

Can the use of Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?

Yes, antibiotics like Gladyclav 228.5 Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea by disrupting the balance of helpful bacteria in your child's stomach. If diarrhea persists or is accompanied by signs of dehydration (infrequent urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine), consult with a doctor.

Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?

Most of the time, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics for viral infections can increase your child's risk of adverse effects. Consult with your child's doctor before administering antibiotics.

The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?

Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics, as this is a common symptom during a viral cold. Symptoms often last 7-10 days.

Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?

Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). Although rare, these side effects are severe and require expert care.
