Introduction

Gigatil 5mg Tablet MD is used in the treatment of vertigo (dizziness) due to ear problems (Meniere’s syndrome and other labyrinthine disorders), nausea, vomiting, and migraine caused by various conditions. Additionally, can be used as a short-term treatment for non-psychotic anxiety.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not handle the tablets with wet hands. Put it in your mouth but do not swallow it. Gigatil 5mg Tablet MD is to be taken with food.

Gigatil 5mg Tablet MD is a vestibular suppressant i.e. it suppresses the vestibular apparatus in the inner ear by blocking the H1 receptor and stops vertigo. It acts within 30 minutes and therefore is effective during acute attacks. It also acts as a dopamine antagonist. Dopamine controls the region in the brain that causes nausea and vomiting and this medicine blocks the action of dopamine. Therefore Gigatil 5mg Tablet MD shows an anti-nauseating and antiemetic action. The mechanism of action by which prochlorperazine relieve headache and anxiety is probably related to it being serotonin (5HT3) receptor antagonist and dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist.

Gigatil 5mg Tablet MD is used for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting. It may also be used to treat dizziness associated with problems of the inner ear such as Meniere’s Syndrome. It may cause sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. It makes you more likely to get heatstroke. Avoid heavy exercising and drink plenty of fluids. It can cause your skin to be more sensitive to sunlight. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight while having this medicine.
